This is a free museum that caters to those that enjoy country music, blues, and learning about our heritage. It is also the local place to go for tourist information for all of the surrounding areas. The people inside are the most friendly and helpful people. The lady inside have us a list of places that were inexpensive or free that was on our route. Today was made enjoyable due to the hospitality of the locals.
Its a amazing place to learn about the history of Brownsville and Tennessee. You also learn abouy musoc history especially Tina Turner.
A really nice place to stop in to gain a bit of history on several TN great music legends - Blues and the great Tina Turner who is in a class of her own! There too is the historical information about the beautiful West Tennessee area that includes everything back from the Civil War Era, Agriculture (cotton), and of course the History of the Hatchie River...so, if you are traveling along I-40 and feel the need to stop or just want to venture outside of the city for a little history on a road trip...stop in @ Ext 56 and spend some time Tina's old school house or walking through the museum.
A great museum, even open on Thanksgiving!!! Some very interesting exhibits, great fish tanks, especially loved Tina Turner’s old school! Incredibly friendly staff, loved sticking my pin in the map and ringing the school bell.
We love small town atmosphere. Nice museum, interesting facts and nice people!
